Happy Birthday, Stoneboat!

Can you believe that Stoneboat will be one year old next week? To be honest, neither can we -- but that doesn't mean we don't intend to celebrate.

On Saturday, November 5th, we will host a reading at Paradigm Coffee & Music in Sheboygan to celebrate our first birthday and kick off the Fall issue.

If you've attended one of our readings in the past, you know what to expect. Several contributors from the new issue will read their work in the flesh, and others will read their work via the technological miracle that is Skype. Local writers and lovers-of-writing will also be on hand to read from the latest issue in place of contributors from far-flung places who are unable to read their own work.

But we're also doing something new this time. We will have an open mic session during our reading, so if you're in the Sheboygan area and would like to share your work (be it poetry or prose), mark your calendars. Stoneboat cordially invites you to Paradigm on November 5th from 2-4 p.m.

We will have copies of the Fall issue available for purchase at the event ($5). If you just can't wait until November 5, though, there are ways to get your Stoneboat fix as soon as the issue comes out:

  • Subscribe! A one-year subscription (two issues) is a mere $10, and your copy will be in the mail just as soon as we get it back from the printer (ETA is October 13-14). We are now able to accept credit cards and PayPal, too, so you don't have to deal with the hassle of writing a check and wasting a stamp to send it in.

  • Find us at the Poetry Publishers Showcase during the Lorine Niedecker Poetry Festival in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Signe will be representing Stoneboat and selling copies of the fall issue ($5) on October 15.

  • Give Stoneboat a birthday present -- donate $10 or more to offset our printing costs and we'll send you a copy of the Fall issue.

Anyway, to get you excited for the reading, here's a clip of contributor Erin Wilcox reading at our Spring 2011 issue release:
